Our Mission
Our mission is to create and share the joy of companionship with as many people as we can – and make a difference in people’s lives even if in just a small way. We have seen Ortomi really help people with their mental health, especially anxiety and loneliness. This really inspires us to continue making Ortomi better every day!
What 'Ortomi' Means
Ortomi comes from the word ‘Automata’ – machines designed to imitate life. We strive to create products that help people as much as (if not more than) real animals and living things.

In The Beginning...
Ortomi began in 2021 as a student project by co-founders, Sam and Christian, with the goal of trying to capture the comforting presence of a real pet. The first Ortomi prototype did nothing more than blink and stare but received a great deal of support and positive feedback which encouraged us to begin building and assembling several more.
Before we knew it, we were selling thousands all around the world to people who valued the companionship of a small robot friend. Since the first prototype, we’ve sold 4,500 units across 45 countries worldwide and we plan on developing and improving Ortomi to make the best product we possibly can. We are so excited for the next chapter of the Ortomi journey and hope you can join us for the ride!

Future Goals
We’re incredibly proud to have brought smiles to so many faces, and to have helped people with their mental health. We plan on continually improving this little companion with each new version (released every year), inspired by the feedback you guys give us! Our ultimate goal is to create the best product we can, and bring as much value to our customers as possible.
Kickstarter
During August of 2023 we launched a Kickstarter Campaign (view here) for the new Ortomi Gen 4. The Kickstarter came as an opportunity to broaden and expand our capabilities as a team and as a company. The campaign ended after 30 days with a total of 937 backers pledging $148,582 AUD – surpassing our $23,329 AUD goal by 630%! With the support of our Kickstarter backers, we received a total of 1331 pre-orders and were able to reach 19 new countries.
We set three stretch goals at $50k, $75k and $100k which we easily met. These were milestones for us to begin developing a custom expression creator, silicone cases and interactions between Ortomi respectively, all of which are features we aim to roll out towards the beginning of 2024!
