Umi have 6 different moods: Idle, Happy, Sad, Grumpy, Bored & Asleep. Across all of these moods, Umi have 100+ different expressions that all happen with time, their personality, their memories and your interactions.
They’ll react to motion, and can detect when you pet them, pick them up, shake them & more – and they love when you press on their ears.

Power ON: Press the Button once to turn on your Umi
‘Hibernate Mode’: Hold the Button for 3 seconds and your Umi will save power
Power OFF: Hold the Button for 5 seconds to turn off your Umi
Entering the Menu: Press the Button once to enter the Menu.
Exiting the Menu: Press the Button once to exit the Menu.
Navigating the Menu
Each Ear will have it’s respective function displayed on the Screen. Ears can be both lifted up and pressed down.
Checking Charge: Enter the Menu to display the remaining battery charge in the top right corner of the Screen.
Charging: Use the USB-C port and supplied cable to charge your Umi when low.

ONLY charge this device using USB compliant sources.
To update your Umi to the latest version, you will have to connect them to the Internet. Umi will only connect to the internet in the “WiFi” menu, and will not automatically check for updates. Updates are the only functionality that require WiFi/Internet.
Navigate to the “Settings” Menu, then Navigate to the “WiFi” Menu.
The Umi will create a WiFi hotspot that you can find on any device. Open the WiFi settings on your phone or computer and connect to the “UMI-SETUP” network hotspot.
Once connected, a window will appear on your device. Follow the instructions to connect your Umi to your WiFi network.
Your Umi will check if an update is available. If there is, press the Ear to download it.
Your Umi will restart after connecting to the internet. Press the Button to exit at any time.
Your Umi will stumble apon “Froot” from time to time… I wonder where they come from?
Inside each Froot is a treasure! There are currently 32 to collect – 8 different treasures activities with 4 colour variants each.
As a thank-you for supporting our project early, “Kickstarter Edition” Umi are able to find the Rocket Ship treasure for an addtional 4 variants!
You can see the treasures your Umi has found in the “Inventory” Menu.
Each Umi has taken with them a small diary – and they like to stick things here from time to time.
What your Umi puts in their scrapbook reveals elements of their personality & some of their favourite things!

Use the “Ear Adjustment” menu to adjust how often the ears will move once the Umi has been left idle (after 30 seconds with no interaction). At the lowest setting, the ears will not react at all.
You can also recalibrate the ears at any time by quickly pressing the button 10 times. Do not touch the ears while they are calibrating – it will take roughly 1 minute to complete.
On the way to their new home – each Umi has naturally settled into a color that they like! You can still change your Umi’s eye color at any time in the Settings menu, and then in the Color Menu. There are currently 20 preset colors to choose from!
